Chapter Eleven

Mali’s eyes grew wider and wider as he approached her. She was so stunned she didn’t even consider trying to flee until he dropped to his knees. By then it was far too late. Grasping her hands as she held them out instinctively to ward him off, he tumbled her backwards onto the mound of pillows, pinning her hands to either side of her head. Lacing his fingers through hers, palm to palm, he curled his far larger hands over hers as he leaned toward her, his gaze full of intent.

His mouth settled over hers as she sucked in a breath--whether to scream, or curse him, or only from the need to feed her oxygen starved brain, even she didn’t know.

If she had, she forgot it the moment his mouth covered hers. The memory of before when he had fitted his mouth to hers in false mating surged through her. She had not allowed herself to think of it, but his touch instantly resurrected everything she had felt that time.

Every part of her body grew instantly taut. Warmth spread through her and a jitteriness of her nerves that she finally decided was pleasurable excitement because her heart began to hammer in her chest frantically and she was not afraid.

She realized dimly that she should have been, but the weight of his body against hers did not make her feel threatened. His size and strength did not make her feel helpless or endangered. They made her feel … womanly in a way that she had never felt her femininity, as something to glory in, for it seemed the perfect foil for his manliness.

There was a hunger in his mouth as it moved over hers with heated persuasion that called to something inside of her, evoked a matching hunger--for what, she wasn’t certain. More, she thought. More of his touch, more of the taste of him.

The stroke of his tongue along hers touched off tiny explosions of heat that seemed to gather, grow stronger, seep through her body like slow moving fire until her entire body felt alive and sizzling with heat. At the same, her mind swirled, pitched into chaos by the sensations pelting through her, dizzy with the lack of air, for she had to command herself to breathe she was so rapt with the pandemonium within her.

Disappointment filled her as he released his grip on her hands and leaned away from her. The strength had left her as the heat and excitement invaded her, though, and she found she had no will or power to move.

He shifted downward. Catching one foot, he lifted it and unlaced her boot, tugging it off and then repeated the process. When he had tossed her boots over his shoulder, he tugged at the lacing of her breeches and jerked them down her hips.

Her heart seemed to skitter to a halt then, for she realized at last his intent.

He had said he would ‘remedy’ the situation when she had pointed out that she had only been with him once and it was unlikely that his seed had borne fruit.
